  • The Approximate prevalence of Dupuytren’s Disease is about 7.3% – 9% in the general population.
  • It is more likely to affect Caucasian people, with a comparison showing a Hispanic-American person has 1/3rd of the risk, an African-American about 1/5th of the risk, and an Asian-American with 1/10th of the risk as compared to a Caucasian American.
  • The disease may come on as early as in the ’20s, though the peak age is between 50 and 70.
  • Dupuytren’s Disease most commonly affects men.
  • Around 70% to 90% of people show mild symptoms of Dupuytren’s Contracture, with the rest suffering from a more serious case. 
  • About 20% to 40% of people with the disease will experience a bent finger, which means their need for surgery is less.
  • Symptoms may arise as early on as 2 years before they become noticeable enough to consult a doctor.
  • Diagnosing Dupuytren’s Disease is not definitive, and only some cases get accurately diagnosed to receive Dupuytren’s Contracture treatment.
  • Surgical Complication rates range from 3.6% to 39.1% for treating Dupuytren’s Disease.

Dupuytren’s Disease may not be an entirely rare disease, but there is a lot that is not known about it.
